The mark will tell you when the fitting is pushed on all the way which is essential for a proper seal. To permanently close off the pipe in a concrete slab the floor flange should be removed and the pipe capped below the floor surface. Slice off a bit of the top of the pipe embedded in the floor. Pull the toilet up and out of the way.

Get a cleanout or expandable test plug that fits. End cap for main drain out let. You could also probably chip it out with a knife sharp chisel. If the top of the plug still sticks out above the floor you can get an internal pvc pipe cutter which is like a rotary dremel circular saw blade on a drill shaft.

Turn off the feed valve drain the water from the tank unhook the feed line and remove the anchoring bolts with a wrench. Remove the gasket and its remnants. Measure from the end of each pipe and make a depth marking as directed by the push on fitting manufacturer.

Plumbers will stock caps you will need to measure across pipe axample 100m 4 inch main pipe cap. Unscrew sink lift away. Push the pipe cap onto the pipe until its edge reaches the depth mark. Water pipe 1pm caps.

Many of today s drainpipes are pvc. This will involve removing a portion of the surrounding concrete removing the floor flange which may have to be cut out and then the capping the pipe.
